Second Step, in partnership with ARA, have been awarded the recent Somerset County Council contract to provide a new service for people with complex needs in Somerset. The service will work with clients and partners creatively to develop new and sustainable support and housing options for adults, who are homeless, or at risk of homelessness, with mental health needs, drug and alcohol problems and/or have been involved in the criminal justice system.
Thinking Differently, Doing Differently in Somerset
We believe that every individual with complex needs can reach their potential and fulfil their aspirations when agencies and partners work together to overcome barriers and find solutions. The new service is underpinned by the principles of collaboration, partnership and engagement across the whole system.
More than housing
While housing is the core part of the service, it really is all about support. The model will wrap people into their communities and provide flexible, tiered support at the right place and time to enable people to maintain tenancies, feel empowered and make a positive contribution to their community. Our focus will be to source appropriate, sustainable and permanent housing solutions in communities where people want to live, and from this stable base we, together with our partners, will tailor support to each client’s recovery.
We will be arranging meetings and events with all interested stakeholders so please contact email@example.com to join the mailing list or with any other queries you may have.
