Bristol Wellbeing College delivers workshops, courses and activities to improve mental health and wellbeing. Anyone living in Bristol and who has used Bristol Mental Health services can attend, and their carers.
We have designed a colour-coded system so you can easily see which sessions are most appropriate for your own recovery journey.
Lighter sessions encouraging self expression, including through the use of sensory tools and activities
Focused sessions providing helpful tools and strategies for better mental wellbeing

|Course name: Depression Session – Finding Hope|
What is the session about?
We explore a recovery concept CHIME, what hope means and how to cultivate more optimism for today and beyond.
Who is it for?
For those who maybe feeling low in mood or depressed and want to develop a sense of wellbeing and some tools to help them on their way.
How is it taught?
The session is delivered over the Zoom platform and using group discussion, written exercises, video clips and on-screen images will focus on depression and its impact.
What will be learnt?
Each Depression Session focuses on aspects of hope, creativity and motivation and how to cultivate these into your everyday life. We recognise that recovery from depression can feel like a long journey we aim to aid in the process by discovering self-management tools and techniques to help you on your way.

Green Workshops: For those beginning their recovery and who may be going through a period of feeling lost, helpless or hopeless. These are lighter sessions, encouraging self-expression, for example, through the use of different sensory tools.
Blue Workshops: For those who have begun to take steps towards making positive changes and are beginning to feel some of the benefits, but who may still feel unsure about their direction. These are more structured sessions that aim to provide learners with helpful tools and strategies.
Pink Courses: For those who have reached a stage in their recovery where they feel comfortable with self-reflection, and are working towards long-term planning. Learners need to have a willingness to support each other in the sessions and appropriately share their experiences.

One of our learners, Ruth, has written a very helpful resource, writing for wellbeing. It contains simple writing exercises that may help you process your thoughts and feelings. You can access the document here. If you complete the exercises and would like to share your work with us, email them to email@example.com.
Some learners are attending our creative writing course, Poem Brut. We will be exhibiting their art, Poetry Without Words, online and hoping to hold a live exhibition in the New Year. Find out more here.
