|Course name: Stress Management|
What is the session about?
Life can be stressful, so how do we cope and build resilience? Using the ‘Stress Bucket’ analogy, we explore some general causes of stress, recognise personal helpful and unhelpful coping strategies and explore how to develop the helpful ones.
Who is it for?
A very useful session for those who are struggling with stress or would like to identify helpful strategies to minimise the symptoms of stress.
How is it taught?
These sessions will be taught over the video conferencing application Zoom and will be discussion focused. You will be given instructions on how to download and use Zoom when you book onto this sessions.
What will be learnt?
We all have ways for dealing with life’s difficulties. In this session, we recognise those strategies which help and those which hinder our ability to cope and deal with life’s challenges.
Location: Zoom Online Session
Time: 10:30 to 11:30
Date: 24 November 2020

Green Workshops: For those beginning their recovery and who may be going through a period of feeling lost, helpless or hopeless. These are lighter sessions, encouraging self-expression, for example, through the use of different sensory tools.
Blue Workshops: For those who have begun to take steps towards making positive changes and are beginning to feel some of the benefits, but who may still feel unsure about their direction. These are more structured sessions that aim to provide learners with helpful tools and strategies.
Pink Courses: For those who have reached a stage in their recovery where they feel comfortable with self-reflection, and are working towards long-term planning. Learners need to have a willingness to support each other in the sessions and appropriately share their experiences.
News, resources and things to know
One of our learners, Ruth, has written a very helpful resource, writing for wellbeing. It contains simple writing exercises that may help you process your thoughts and feelings. You can access the document here. If you complete the exercises and would like to share your work with us, email them to email@example.com.
Some learners are attending our creative writing course, Poem Brut. We will be exhibiting their art, Poetry Without Words, online and hoping to hold a live exhibition in the New Year. Find out more here.
You can find pre-recorded YouTube sessions on a range of topics such as boost your mood and writing for wellbeing. Join our Facebook community where you can connect with like-minded people. Read blogs from our learners and tutors.
