STAR Diversity Group - Could this be you?

We're looking for a diverse mix of enthusiastic and committed people to join the STAR Diversity Group.

This is a very important group that will help the development of our new Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) strategy, using your lived experience and first-hand knowledge to shape Second Step.

The role

  • This is a paid role at £9 per hour, plus expenses.
  • We haven’t yet agreed the frequency or length of meetings yet so we are really flexible with the time you can commit.
  • We're particularly keen to hear from our Black and Asian Service Users to support our new ‘Addressing Racism’ strategy.
  • You’ll get the chance to put your skills and experience to good use and in return we’ll offer you induction, training and learning opportunities around good

practice in diversity, inclusive involvement and leadership

STAR Improvement Group - Could this be you?

We're looking for two enthusiastic and committed people to join the STAR Improvement Group.

We are a small group of current and former Second Step clients, committed to improving the quality of Second Step services in close working partnership with the Quality Improvement Team.

The role

  • 2-3 hours a week, but we work flexibly as a team to make workloads manageable.
  • This is a paid role at £12 per hour, with support and training provided.
  • We work together to review at least six services every year, so the work is interesting and varied. We play a lead role in obtaining feedback from our clients and are included in every aspect of service review.
  • We are passionate in promoting equality, inclusion and the diversity of the communities that Second Step serves in the South West.
  • There are additional opportunities for members to analyse performance data and help produce reports.

STAR Policy Group - Could this be you?

We're looking for two committed people to join the STAR Policy Group and Policy Reviewers.

You will work with the Complaints and Policy Officer to support Senior Managers develop and review important policies. Our Operational Policies guide the way our staff and volunteers work with clients, and provide details of the rights and responsibilities of Second Step clients.

The role

  • This is a paid role at £9 per hour, plus expenses.
  • You'll attend Policy Review meetings for 2-3 hours every 4-6 weeks (initially online).
  • The role will enable you to meet a range of different people from Second Step as well as other STAR group members.
  • You’ll get the chance to put your skills and experience to good use and in return, we’ll offer you induction, training and learning opportunities.
