Positive Step offers wellbeing therapies to people in North Somerset. It provides a variety of psychological support, including cognitive behavioural therapy, psycho-educational courses and one to one sessions.
We all feel low, worried or anxious at times, but sometimes these difficulties can get in the way of us living the life we want to. You may feel like nothing can be done to help you feel better.
But Positive Step is here to help you develop skills for good mental health by:
- understanding why you feel as you do
- looking at how your thoughts and behaviour affect your mood
- teaching you skills and strategies to help you make the changes you want
Set up in 2009, Positive Step works with 2,500 people in North Somerset every year, offering a variety of psychological support: cCBT, psycho-educational courses and one to one sessions.
The team of Wellness Advisors and Cognitive Behavioural Therapists is supported by over 40 volunteers, who work alongside the practitioners delivering courses. Courses are run in community venues across the county and are an effective way for people to learn skills and strategies to manage their low mood and anxiety.
Positive Step is a partnership between Second Step and Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health NHS Partnership Trust (AWP). We work closely with Addations, Probation Services, Children’s Centres, Weston College, 1:4 and New Dawn Counselling.
