Meet the team
A warm welcome from our team who make our courses and workshops happen.
College Tutors
Lauren Lee
BSW Recovery College Senior Tutor
Lauren has a background in Psychology and has worked as a learning support assistant, a researcher and a recovery navigator. She enjoys connecting with people from all walks of life. Originally from the seaside, Lauren loves animals - except spiders! (pet photos always welcome) and dreams of travelling the world in a camper van.
Abigail Carpenter
BSW Recovery College Tutor
Abbie enjoys opportunities to connect and learn with new people. In her spare time, she will be doing something creative or outdoors. She loves walking, swimming and attempting too many creative projects at once.
Harriet Bennion
BSW Recovery College Tutor
Harriet has a background in psychology with a particular interest in women’s mental health and health psychology. She is happiest when hiking, cold water swimming, or spending time at the beach with her dog, Lady!
Hev Christie
Wellbeing College Tutor
Hev has previously worked as a peer practitioner and learning support assistant. They are happiest when being creative - making paintings, collages and (very simple!) crochet. In their spare time, they enjoy swimming, walking with friends and being in nature.
Service Manager and Coordinator
Nina
Wellbeing College Senior Tutor
Nina has worked at Second Step for 11 years setting up projects and supporting peer staff, and joining the Wellbeing College at its inception in 2014. Nina loves to travel, meet new people and experience different cultures. You’ll usually find her sitting in a coffee shop or walking with friends.
Coordination Team
Aoife
Coordinator and Social Media Lead
Usually sending out emails or creating posters to go up on our Facebook group. Aoife finds she can’t do anything without listening to music and has to have it on 24/7!
Ben
Partnership and IT Lead
Ben provides technical support for College learners and also manages our Wellbeing Café, that runs every Tuesday afternoon between 2pm and 4pm. An avid fan of music, Ben enjoys playing various musical instruments in his spare time.
Chris
Quality and Review Officer
Chris's role within the College is varied, involving tech, admin and analysis, although engaging with learners remains the most valuable part of his job. Chris enjoys meeting new people, reading, and can often be found doing DIY and carpentry in his spare time.
Team Manager
Sally
Bristol Wellbeing College Manager
Sally manages the College which keeps her busy for many of her waking hours! Her specialist area is attachment and she also works with young people who have had a difficult start in life. She enjoys music, entertaining and is most happy with a house or garden full of people.
