Let's talk about men's mental health

In the UK, suicide is the number one cause of death for males under 50. As a mental health charity we've set up Stepladder to help create safe spaces for men in Somerset. Somewhere to talk, get involved in a new group or activity and connect with your community.

If you are having thoughts of suicide or acts of self harm, or you are worried about someone else please dial 999 or call the Samaritans on 116 123 for free. There are other local support lines that can help such as Somerset Mindline free on 0800 138 1692.

About Stepladder

Stepladder is an initiative for men in Somerset. The project is delivered by Second Step as part of Open Mental Health and aims to reduce the number of men who take their own life. We work with communities, groups and organisations to find ways men can connect, support each other and get help. There are a number of local groups to get involved with across the Bridgwater, Taunton, Yeovil and Street areas.

Stepladder also runs Winston’s Innovation Fund, a pot of money to help fund groups, projects and activities for men in Somerset. Grants of up to £1000 which aim to improve the mental wellbeing of men across Somerset are open for anyone to apply.

If you want to know more about our work across Somerset or would like to share your experiences and expertise, please get in touch stepladdersomerset@second-step.co.uk
