We have more than 100 volunteer roles at Second Step ranging from one to one mentors through to communication volunteers and roles in our talking therapies services.
We recognise that our volunteers help provide high quality, well-informed and innovative services.
Training and support
Our volunteers receive 1-2-1 and group supervision frequently, plus a six-month review to make sure they are getting the experience they want. You can also expect a high level of training, support and opportunities for development. Second Step has a wide variety of projects and services, which means there are volunteer positions to suit most interests and experience.
Lived experience? Try Peer mentoring
We particularly welcome volunteers who have experienced mental health problems similar to those that affect our service users. Volunteers who have experienced homelessness, mental ill health, drug and/or alcohol dependency and who are now settled and in recovery have a lot to offer.
