Grassroots groups – this is for you!
New community grants now open to grassroots organisations to boost mental health and wellbeing across BSW
Small, but mighty grassroots community organisations across Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire (BSW) are being urged to step forward and claim new funding designed to supercharge community mental health support.
The Community Grants Programme, funded by the BSW Integrated Care Board and delivered by mental health charity Second Step as part of the BSW Mental Health and Wellbeing Partnership, is offering £2,000 – £5,000 grants, plus one larger grant of £7,500 for each local authority area, to community groups with an annual turnover of under £200,000.
These grants are for the organisations that rarely put themselves forward, but change lives every day – the groups running on energy, belief and volunteers, and relying on people who are holding communities together through their creativity, peer support and safe spaces. If you are currently supporting people who are isolated, marginalised or overlooked – then this fund is built for you!
Aileen Edwards, Chief Executive of Second Step, said:
“Some of the most powerful mental health support happens in our communities, in grassroot groups run by people who never give up on their mission to support others. We want to find these organisations and support them. If you’re supporting people who don’t always get heard and are often overlooked, and you have an idea that could make their life brighter or more connected, we want you to apply.”
The grants programme aims to unlock community-led solutions to build people’s confidence and connection. It is part of the wider Mental Health and Wellbeing Partnership across BSW – a collaboration between Second Step, Alabaré, Missing Link and Nilaari.
Andrew Lord, Chief Executive of Alabaré, said:
“When community-led projects thrive, people thrive. These grants are a chance to build hope, belonging and resilience across the region. We urge groups to step forward and apply for a grant. This could really help your work reach more people.”
