The Community Rehabilitation Service is an innovative and award winning service provided by Second Step in partnership with Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust and Missing Link. Shaped by people who have used mental health services, the Community Rehabilitation Service gives people the support they need to achieve their hopes and goals. The post will be based at our accommodation in Brentry.

 

Our Recovery Navigators work with people with long-term mental health and complex needs. The focus is in supporting people to gain the skills and confidence to live as independently as possible in the community. More information about the post is included in the role profile.

 

You will have experience of needs assessments and recovery care planning. 

 

You should have a commitment to recovery and work in a psychologically informed way (PIE).

Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner – Placement Opportunity

 

Hours – 37 hours per week (involves some evening working)

Contract - Fixed-term 1 year

Salary – Scale H £20,369 - £22,265 per annum, pro rata

Location – North Somerset (Office base Weston super Mare) and Exeter University (2 days per week with travel costs covered)

 

The service covers the entire North Somerset area making it an essential requirement that all applicants have a full driving licence and permanent access to a suitable vehicle.

 

As a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (Wellness Advisor) you will be responsible for assessing the needs of patients accessing our service, the delivery of psycho-educational courses and providing a range of low-intensity one to one psychological treatments based on the principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. You should have significant experience of working with people with mental health needs, specifically anxiety and depression. You will need to be able to carry out behavioural and cognitive based interventions, keep clear and concise records and have an understanding of the knowledge and evidence base underpinning clinical practice within an IAPT service.

The B&NES Floating Support Team work with people who have Mental Health needs who require tenancy related support.

Our Supported Housing service provides low and medium tenancy related support to people with a range of complex needs including homelessness, drug and alcohol misuse, re-offending and mental health issues who require support to progress towards more independent living.

 

The service operates a rota to provide extended support between 8:00 and 20:00 Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and 10:00 to 14:00 on Saturday.

 

You will be responsible for providing recovery focussed support to people, promoting independence and supporting vulnerable people in developing move on and recovery plans.

 

You will have a minimum of two years experience of working with people with complex needs in the social housing field. Experience and understanding of working with people with multiple needs, homelessness, mental health or drug/alcohol dependency is essential.

 

We a work in a recovery focused psychologically informed way (PIE) and you will receive comprehensive training, regular supervision and be part of team reflective practice.

 

A full driving license and access to transport is essential as the post involves travel around the Bristol area.

Service User Board Member Role

 

Voluntary Board Member role (reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed)

Four meetings a year and two development days held in Bristol

We are looking for up to three current or past users of our Services to strengthen our Board. Ideally you will have had experience of using Second Step services, if not, you will have experience of using other similar services.

You will be a valued member of the Board with the ability to use your own experience and expertise to contribute to Second Step strategies and future plans. Support and training can be provided and will be tailored to your needs and current skills.
