All volunteers need to attend an interview, after which we will invite you to attend a minimum of three training sessions depending upon the role you have applied for. These are Second Step Core Training, Service Induction and Second Step Induction.

The volunteer recruitment process is as follows;

  • We process your application.
  • You attend an interview with our team.
  • Your Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check is approved and your referee contacted.
  • You will be required to undertake up to three days training, depending on the role you will be taking up.

We are required to complete a DBS check. This is to ensure both your safety and the safety of the people that you may be working with.  There is no cost involved for the volunteer. The process can take between two to six weeks or longer.  We will send you the details for an online DBS application at the same time as the interview date if you are successful. Having a criminal record will not automatically prevent you from becoming a volunteer.
