Together we will help you get back on track
Thousands of people go to their doctor with depression, low mood or anxiety every year, but only one quarter of these people receive help.
The Bristol-based mental health charity Second Step offers help through its Wellbeing Therapies Service to people living in the Bristol and South Gloucestershire area, from our base here in the city centre.
We are a small friendly team of experienced professionals who will work with you to improve your mental health and wellbeing. Our therapists help you create goals that are important to you. We can help you in many ways including to:
- be more assertive in your relationships
- gain confidence socially
- deal with anxieties, OCD and phobias
- manage feelings of depression and low mood
- help with poor sleep
- cope with the symptoms of trauma
- move back towards work or maintain the job you have.
We work in a way that suits you, so it could be through telephone support sessions, or maybe you would find it better to work face-to-face with one of our therapists.
We specialise in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), as this has proved to be effective for many people. CBT works by helping to understand the connections between our current life situation and the way we think, behave and feel. The idea is that by working on thoughts or behaviour we can influence how we feel positively.
We also offer Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) as a specialist intervention for working with trauma.
Our therapists build strong relationships with their clients concentrating on what they want to achieve and do, listening to what is being said and helping to find a way forward.
