Bristol Wellbeing College
Bristol Wellbeing College is a place of wellbeing and learning for anyone interested in exploring ways to improve their mental health. Workshops and courses are free of charge to people receiving support from any of the organisations which deliver Bristol Mental Health services, including their carers. We’re proud that 90% of Bristol Wellbeing College learners report an improvement in their mental health and wellbeing.

|Course name: Mind Your Body, Feed Your Mind (session 2)|
What is the session about?
The two session course investigates the links between our diet, physical health and mental wellbeing. We discover surprising facts about the food we put into our bodies and the impact it has on our mind. We reflect on our personal actions and behaviour surrounding diet and exercise and what consequences these have, before exploring some feasible changes we can make for the better. We provide signposting to other local activities and groups to help you move forward on your personal journey.
Who is it for?
Anyone who is ready to take steps towards improving their physical health and mental wellbeing and is interested in gaining more knowledge to help them do this. It is best to come with an open mind towards making small changes in your day-to-day habits.
How is it taught?
Interactive activities to discover what goes into the food we eat; group discussions and practical activities to generate ideas on what we can change, such as sharing recipes; videos; individual workbook activities for personal reflection and goal-setting and diary activities.
What will be learnt?
Improved knowledge around food, its ingredients and what this means for you; new, recipe ideas for healthier eating habits; ideas on how to make feasible changes that will help you to feel better, physically and mentally. You will also come away with a personal action plan and clearer idea on how to move forward to make positive changes in your lifestyle. Hopefully, you will come away feeling motivated!

About the college
Bristol Wellbeing College was launched in 2014 by Second Step with the aim of giving people the recovery principles and practices to help them move forward in their lives.
Our wellbeing sessions include a range of short one-off workshops and longer multi-session courses held over a number of weeks. From managing depression, combatting isolation and writing for wellbeing, all the sessions help learners to gain a greater understanding of mental health problems, as well as developing the skills and strategies to improve self-management and recovery.
All of our workshops and courses are friendly and welcoming and are held in a variety of accessible venues across Bristol. All sessions have been designed and created by people who have experience of mental health problems, as well as mental health professionals. The College works with a number of like-minded organisations across the city.
All workshops, courses and activities are free of charge to people receiving support from any of the organisations delivering Bristol Mental Health services, as well as to their carers. We are unable to accept walk-ins (people turning up to sessions on the day).
