Step by Step
What is the Step by Step service?
Step by Step are the Homeopathy Clinics offered by Second Step to its service users. Homeopathy is an effective and scientific system of healing, which assists the body to heal itself. It recognises that all symptoms are expressions of disharmony within the whole and that it is the patient that needs the treatment, not the disease.
It is based on the principle of "like cures like". A little bit of what makes you ill will make you healthy.
What can Homeopathy treat?
Homeopathy can be taken to treat complaints at all stages of life from pregnancy to old age. Conditions such as mental health issues (including depression, anxiety & insomnia), digestive disorders, joint and muscle disorders, support for addictions - to name but a few, have all been treated successfully with Homeopathy.
What are the remedies like?
The remedies are all made from natural substances. They are completely non-addictive, non-toxic and you are able to take them safely with any other medication that you may be prescribed by your GP. They come in the form of either tiny pillules or liquid and you will be given an instruction sheet to help you take them properly.
What would happen at a consultation?
Your first consultation would last approximately 45 minutes. You may bring a friend, relative or your Support Worker with you if you wish. You will be seen by two homeopaths who will ask you to give a detailed description of your symptoms, medical history and what you are like as a person. They need this information to determine the cause and possible triggers of your symptoms and to prescribe the best course of treatment for you, as an individual.
Follow up consultations will then take place every two weeks initially, to assess changes and improvements. The time between consultations may become longer as your condition improves.
Who is eligible?
Anyone who is currently a Second Step service user.
How much is it?
The cost of the session is £6.00 per appointment to cover the remedies, but if there is severe financial hardship, this will be taken in to account. No one will be turned away because they can't afford it.
Where and when are the clinics?
The clinics are at the Second Step offices, 9 Brunswick Square, Bristol or 1 Swiss Road, Weston-super-Mare on a Friday afternoon between 1:00pm - 4:00pm. See our location page for a map of how to find us.
