Compass Centre Launch
Second Step in partnership with St Mungos recently launched the opening of the Compass Centre the Wellbeing Service which will take over from the New Street centre early in the New Year.  Aileen Edwards (Chief Executive of Second Step) said, "We're expecting people to be referred to the service through other local homeless and health services as well as people being able to drop in. We're looking to organise outreach sessions from different locations so that we reach the whole homeless community. The service approach is recovery focused. That means we're looking to really improve people's mental wellbeing for the long term so they can enjoy much more fulfilling, active lives in secure homes."

Summer Conference
In July Second Step successfully held it's annual joint staff and service user summer conference.  Rachel Perkins (Director of Quality Assurance and User Experience South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust) was inspiring as the keynote speaker and Light Box were entertaining in helping us to identify our strengths.  The day was best summed up by a service user who has a fear of social occasions "I expected to leave at 11am, but now it's over I want it to go on for another two hours".
