The information on this page relates to Bristol based Bed and Breakfast service. If you are in North Somerset, please click here for information regarding the Bed and Breakfast service in your area.
What is Bed & Breakfast Support?
Second Step has a team of workers providing support to people with mental health needs who are currently living in Bed & Breakfast accommodation. The support we give is tailored to an individuals needs. We can help find you alternative housing and once you have found somewhere suitable we can provide support to help you manage your living space.
What support will I receive?
Everyone who comes to Second Step gets support designed around his or her own individual needs. We will work with you to produce a Support Plan based on your individual needs and interests.
We offer help in a range of different areas including support with obtaining benefits, budgeting, applying for grants, bills, liaising with other agencies or simply just having someone to talk to.
Do I need a referral for this service?
To use the Bed & Breakfast service you will need to be referred to us by Bristol City Council or the Homelessness Team at The Hub. For the North Somerset areas, you will need to be referred to us by the Housing Advice Team at Weston-super-Mare Town Hall.
Who can use the service?
- If you want to be considered for the service, you will need to:
- have current mental health needs, requiring some level of support to live independently;

No - the support we provide is completely free. Most of our funding to run this service comes from the Government's "Supporting People" programme.
